Sail the Seven C's Teacher Expo

Collections Courses Curation Creation Collaboration Content Chronicle

This project consists of two parts: 1. My novel in development, Rebel Hour. Recently, my mind wandered to 'What if a teacher with nothing to lose chose to work from her instincts rather than a teacher's edition?'
In Rebel Hour I use emails, journal entries, character conversations, straight narrative to tell the story of Megan Page, a fourth-grade teacher who, despite opposition from influential parents and her principal, leaps out of her comfort zone and takes her students (and herself) on a 180-day journey of creativity, novelty, and unpredictability. 2. All manner of added features and content, including writing prompts, creativity strategies for teaching and learning, copyright-free, attribution-free photos, and many other items, some of which I haven't even dreamed up yet. Let's see what develops. Thanks for visiting.

As the title page suggests, this project focuses on:

  1. Chronicle [the novel-in-progress]
  2. Curation [There are tons of smart people out there whose work I plan on tailoring to The Expo, including Austin Kleon [Show Your Work, Steal Like An Artist, Keep Going], Josh Linkner [Disciplined Dreaming], and Tom and David Kelley [Creative Confidence and The Art of Innovation].
  3. Creation
  4. Collaboration [would love to hear your suggestions for additional resources]
  5. Courses [including my course on prewriting]
  6. Content [ex. short tech how-to videos]
  7. Collections [photos, 8.5 x 11 'posters' with inspirational quotes, writing prompts]

Tim Haag--Welcome Explorers

Greetings.

My name is Tim Haag and I'm a retired teacher whose enjoyment of writing for a younger audience and creating and sharing educational content led to The Expo.

This project consists of two parts:

1. My novel in development, Rebel Hour. Recently, a 'what if' floated through my mind--what if a teacher with nothing to lose chose to work from her instincts rather than a teacher's edition? In Rebel Hour I use a variety of writing forms [emails, journal entries, character conversations, straight narrative] to tell the story of Ms. Page, a fourth-grade teacher who, despite probable opposition from her principal, leaps out of her own comfort zone, and injects variety and creativity en route to an unpredictable 180-day journey.

2. All manner of added features and content, including writing prompts, creativity strategies for teaching and learning, copyright-free, attribution-free photos, and many other items, some of which I haven't even dreamed up yet.

Let's see what develops.

Thanks for visiting.
